Poor Bodhi

Poor Bodhi

Poor Bodhi, (Poor Bodie), was a Denver-based band that I was in active from approximately 2011 through the early 2020s.

The group brought together influences from punk, soul, funk, jazz, improvisation, and experimental music. Over the years we often referred to the music as Soul Punk, though the band never fit neatly into a single genre.

This page serves as an ongoing archive of recordings, photographs, videos, and other surviving material related to the band.

The Name

The band originally performed under the name Poor Bodie.

The spelling led to constant mispronunciations, with many people reading it as "Poor Body." Eventually the name evolved into Poor Bodhi, which better reflected the intended pronunciation and became the version most commonly associated with the group.

Recordings

Over the years Poor Bodhi recorded material in a variety of settings, including studio sessions, rehearsals, and live performances.

Recording Locations

  • Derryberry Studios
